About

A physiotherapist-led group program combining weight-bearing, resistance and strength exercise, targeted balance training, and education — built around your own bone density results and stage of osteoporosis, whether newly diagnosed or focused on prevention.

Is this for you?

You've been diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia.

You want to reduce your fall and fracture risk through better balance and strength.

Your GP or specialist has recommended structured exercise for bone health.

You want an ongoing, supported program — not a one-off session or a generic sheet.

What's included?

  • In-depth initial assessment to understand your personal goals and design a plan.

  • Educational resource pack breaking down the research — myths, misconceptions and the critical role exercise plays in your recovery.

  • 12 x small group exercise sessions with a physio-led program tailored to you.

  • Reassessment and 12-month plan to maintain your progress and advance the benefits you've seen throughout the program.

What to expect

Month 3

Building strength

Noticeable strength gains through the back and hips, plus better balance and confidence with everyday movement.

Month 6

Everyday function

Stairs, chairs, and carrying loads get easier, with continued strength gains and better posture under load.

Month 9

Balance + control

Shaper reaction time and neuromuscular control, with reduced falls risk from sustained balance training.

Month 12

Measuring progress

A repeat DXA scan checks bone density at the spine and hip — many participants see real gains here, alongside lasting strength and balance.

Resistance exercise

has been shown to produce comparable bone density gains to some medications with around 8 months of regular training.

Weight-bearing and resistance

exercise are among the few interventions shown to directly support bone density, regardless of age.

Combined strength and balance

training meaningfully reduces fall risk in older adults.

Group exercise timetable

You'll need to participate in 12 physio-led exercise sessions across the 8 weeks.
